The Community of the Faithful
No matter where you come from or where you are going, it is always better to traverse the journey of life with others. Community is one of the essential parts of our experience here on the Good Ship Earth, and good community has become very hard to come by in an age of tribalism, narcissism, and culture wars. Faithfulness is one of the marks of community that drives connection, conversation, and collaboration. When we are faithful to our values and each other, we allow a level of reality to permeate our relationships, challenging us, accepting us, and keeping us accountable to the truth of our existence. Finding this type of faithful community has a transformational value that grows and stretches you in ways that you never knew were possible. That is my hope for all who come here.
Whatever your background or the history of your experience, we all must come face-to-face with the reality of our existence, purpose, and responsibility in light of those things. In a period where people craft their bespoke ideologies, personal identities, and transcending inspirations, the power we receive through faith can elevate us to a viable hope or sublimate our experience to a frustrating connection of human-powered outcomes. In this, we must be transformed by renewing our minds rather than the rationalizations of our creation or the relevance of our perception.
What follows here at this little corner of the internet is an effort to bring clarity to the reality of where we come from and where we are going. There are places for conversations, wrestling through ideas, and experiencing support amidst the battle against principalities and powers. Ultimately, there is only one source of hope for us as we go through this life. My hope is that you find the Almighty in transformative ways, centered on Him and what He is doing in your life and the lives of those around you. Join me as we wander through a variety of ideas that lead toward restoration and reconciliation, where we find a faithful community and a source of hope that is not limited by human-powered efforts or an accumulation of the right kind of words or deeds.
I hope you are encouraged and renewed as we seek the way together. The Gospel of Mathematics
“From nursery school onward we are taught how to succeed in the world of ungrace. The early bird gets the worm. No pain, No gain. There is no such thing as a free lunch. Demand your rights. You get what you pay for. I know these rules well because I live in them. I work for what I earn; I like to win; I insist on my right. I want people to get what they deserve – nothing more, nothing less.” Philip Yancey
